We Become What We Think

What ever you think about yourself appears as true in your experience, whether it is reality or not. Give some thought to that for a moment. Perspective is an extremely powerful thing. If you think you are “fat”, in your mind you are fat and your experience will be all the negativity that comes along with being fat. How does that make you feel? For me, in brings instant feelings of sadness, depression, weakness and shame. How do you imagine you would act while harboring the above feelings? Probably not very effectively and certainly not very joyfully. Life becomes PAINFUL when we don’t control our thoughts. The negativity and exaggerations take over and before we know it, we become more of what we don’t want in our lives.
The reality might be that you need to lose weight to become more healthy. That’s fine and we can do that, but let’s remember all the reasons to be grateful for the body we have TODAY. No matter how much weight you have to lose, it could be even more. No matter where you are in your life’s journey, stay strong and insist that your thoughts stay focused on gratitude and joy for what you DO have right now. Do some “house cleaning” of your thoughts today….and exercise your choice to think and feel and see all the GOOD in your life right now. “When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” Life is so much easier when our hearts are filled with joy and that leaves NO ROOM for guilt, shame, fear or sadness. Our quality of life is up to us, so let’s take control and say NO to every ugly, negative thought that tries to enter today and simply focus on JOY.
