“I get by with a little help from my friends,
Oh, I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends” -The Beatles
Below is an email that was recently sent out by the local family who owns and operates the restaurant called “Fresh D’Lite” in the Geneva Commons. I hope you will take a second to read it and keep them in mind. Janet Chaudury is not only a friend of mine and a WW Lifetime member, she is also a Weight Watchers Receptionist, here, in the Fox Valley and a lovely, lovely person! I am all for supporting local people and their small businesses that contribute to our community and make it a better place for all of us.
Fresh D’Lite is a FAVORITE restaurant of many of us who find managing our health a priority and who also love to dine out and we want them to continue to offer all of their fabulous food! If you have never been there, Fresh D’Lite is not only tasty and reasonably priced, they are VERY, VERY Weight Watchers friendly! The MAJORITY of their entrees are under 12 Points Plus! They have ALL the nutritional information for the selections on their menu readily available for you to look at and/or take with you before ordering so that you can make the best choice for YOU. They often even have the Points Plus values calculated for us! Love that! Due to the economy/real estate market, I am definitely not eating out as much as I used to, but when I do, I am going to do my best to choose Fresh D’Lite when possible. So if you are out and about in the Geneva Commons and want to grab a bite while easily staying on target for the day, or you are looking for someplace to meet a friend to catch up without going over board, check out Fresh D’Lite. You will be supporting a LOCAL small business owner while you are there!!

Words are not enough to show how much my family appreciates your support during
our first year. While we survived as a small family restaurant, going forward is
quite difficult because the cost of running the restaurant is much higher than
current sales. So, we are taking an unusual step to seek your help in preventing
another small business failure.
There is a lot of unclear information on how to eat healthy. The government and
the large corporations don’t seem to have connected with the consumers with easy
solutions. I have had experience, being in-charge of new meals and nutrition, at
large food companies (Sara Lee, Healthy Choice, Marie Callender’s etc.). My family
had the culinary cooking expertise. The combined background motivated us to create
a new concept, “fresh taste and the best nutrition” for the local community. To
be honest, we didn’t know much about restaurant operation, but we took a big risk,
thinking we could learn.
We are thrilled when customers fill up the restaurant at lunch and hear very positive
feedback every day about our food and service. But inconsistent lunch crowds and
smaller dinner crowds are not enough to pay for the high fixed cost, especially
in a high rent, exclusive mall location. We have invested most of our life’s savings
in this restaurant. We can survive, at best, a few more months with current sales.
I can’t blame anyone, not even the bad economy because I opened the restaurant after
the market crashed. I take total responsibility for the situation. As I reached
out to many restaurant experts and well-wishers, I learned a common theme – not
enough people heard about us. So, spread the news. We know many of you love our
food and come frequently. We can’t ask you to eat any more often. Those who loved
our food but then forgot about us, please consider this a reminder that we are here.
The best thing all of you can do is to forward this email to your friends, family,
co-workers, neighbors and organizations telling them about our unique concept of
fresh taste and nutrition.
We think all new business creations especially those who change the way we do things,
go through the steep learning phase in the beginning. We are no exception. My family
feels we are blessed to be a part of this wonderful cause. We have no regret for
taking up this new life of long hours with cooking and feeding. We are motivated
because our delicious meals with 50-75% less calories, fat and sodium can address
America’s top health issues – obesity, heart and cholesterol, diabetes and blood
Our employees are very special and we consider them as part of our family. We share
everything with them, so that they are never surprised. We feel our customers are
also becoming part of our family, so we decided to involve you in the business for
the first time, in the same way.
Please let us know if you have any ideas on how to make our new concept appeal to
more customers. Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or provide your thoughts
in person when you are at the restaurant. Go to: www.freshdlite.com to get to our website, click on Facebook and then like us.
We will keep you posted with our progress. Show this email on your phone or a printed
copy and get 25% of any one of the new dinner or brunch menu item until Nov13.
